Make Money in Your Neighborhood

Check Craigslist for Odd Jobs
Craigslist is a great place to look for side gigs for extra cash.
Browse your local listings to find work you can do today.

Ask neighbors if they need help planting flowers, mowing grass, weeding, and doing other lawn-related tasks.
You’ll most likely find someone who’d love the help and is willing to pay.
Weather-Related Stuff
You can find ways to get paid around the neighborhood no matter what season it is.
Shovel snow in the winter, dig a garden in the spring, mow grass in the summer, and rake leaves or replace roofs in the fall.
Hauling
Know someone who’s doing some home remodeling or major landscaping tasks?

Look for them both in the App Store or Google Play.

You can also try petsitting for cash!
Care for dogs, cats, birds, and more at their owners’ homes or take them into your home while the owners are gone. Either way, you get paid for your help.

Babysit your friends or neighbors’ kids or start up a part-time daycare in your home (you’ll need to check your local laws on this, of course).
Care.com is a great place to easily find babysitting work.

Is there a holiday coming up?
See if anyone you know wants some help putting their decorations out.

If you know your way around town, you may be able to start small tours.
Just check with your local tourism agency first to make sure you’re not stepping on anyone’s toes.

Put an ad in the paper or on Craigslist advertising that you’re available to declutter and organize basements, office space, etc.

Get the word out to your current neighbors and ask them if they’d mind telling others they know are moving soon.

Younger teams, especially, could probably use an extra hand.

Panhandle
If nothing else seems to be working, panhandling could at least give you a little cash in an emergency.
However, it’s illegal in some areas, so be sure to check local laws to avoid getting in trouble with the law.
Get Cash from Your Job
Of course, you can always get some extra cash from your job if you’re not afraid to put in the work and show your boss how awesome you are!
Ask for a Raise
Some bosses won’t hand out raises to just anyone, so yours might need some convincing, but it’s definitely not something to shy away from.
Schedule an appointment with the boss and explain why you deserve a few extra dollars an hour and what you’ve done to help the company.
Get Overtime
Most of the time, getting overtime hours is within your reach if you want it.
Talk to your boss and explain the situation – just be sure to work to your full potential during those extra hours.
Offer an Awesome Idea
Those with excellent ideas that could propel a company forward are the ones that superiors take notice of.
Be that person!
Refer Customers
Show your boss you mean business by referring new customers or clients to your place of work.
Don’t forget to suggest an incentive program be put in place for whoever refers the most new customers to cash in on your efforts.
Get an Early Bonus
Do you have a bonus coming up for the quarter or holiday?
If you’re comfortable asking your boss for an early advancement on the bonus, do it! The worst they can say is “No.”
Take the Jobs Other People Want
When you step up to take jobs your coworkers don’t want, your boss will notice.
Be the first to volunteer. Not only will eyes be on you, but you’ll also get first dibs on the money that comes along with those jobs.
Do Personal Favors for the Boss or Your Co-Workers
You don’t have to be a suck-up, but offering to do some personal tasks – babysitting, cleaning a car, or running errands – for people you work with can help you get some extra cash outside of work hours.
Make Money with Your Car
Your car is one of the best ways to get extra cash every day or week. Here’s how:
Ridesharing
I’m sure you’ve heard of Uber and Lyft, the two most famous ridesharing companies around.
The reason they’re so popular is because they offer a lot of flexibility for drivers to drive as much or as little as they want.
If you’re in need of cash quickly, use the next two days to drive as much as possible!
Car Advertising
Sign up for Carvertise, and you can earn up to $1200 just by getting an advertisement wrapped on your car and driving it around.
Rent It
Are there days of the week that you don’t need your car?
Rent it!
HyreCar lets you rent it to rideshare drivers and get paid instead of letting it sit in the garage.
Delivering
One of the most popular side gigs right now is delivery driving.
Use your own car and work your own hours to get paid to drive your car bringing things – groceries, dinner, packages, coffee, etc. – to people around the neighborhood.
Try:
Carpooling
Offer to be the carpool driver every day this week for your work buddies, and you’ll be the one getting everyone’s carpool share.
Make Money from Your Money
Extra cash may be hiding in the financial tools you already have available. Here’s how to get some extra cash from your finances:
Cash Bonus Checking and Savings Accounts
Open a new checking or savings account with an awesome sign-up bonus and get anywhere from $100 to $500 or more, depending on the bank.
NerdWallet lists the most recent bonuses.
Find the Right Credit Cards
Do you have any credit cards with cash back rewards?
If so, use them for your purchases. Just be sure to pay them off at the end of the month, so you don’t have interest pile up.
Or, check out CreditCards.com for the most recent credit card bonus offers that give you money just for opening a new account.
Try Lazy Investing
Turn your money into more money in the easiest way possible.
It won’t necessarily make you money overnight, but it’s a good way to continuously gain on what you invest.
Try Stash, an app that helps you invest your cash, and you can start for as little as $5.
Or sign up for Acorns, an app that rounds up all your purchases and invests the spare change for you.
Cash in On Your Extras
Have extra things hanging around the house?
They may be worth more than you think!

With Amazon’s trade-in program, things like used books, video games, and DVDs are all possible options for getting money quickly.
Or eBay!
eBay lets people have a little more flexibility in what and how they sell, so you can always open up shop there and try to sell what you have.
eBay is especially good for unique items and collectibles.
Resell Antiques
Pick up antiques for low prices at flea markets, yard sales, or estate sales, clean them up, and resell them for more.
Consign Locally
Local consignment shops could want some of the stuff you have stored in your basement.
It doesn’t hurt to ask!
Have a Garage Sale
Garage sales are still popular, especially in large communities.
See if some of your neighbors want to join in to get more traffic to your sale.
Open a Flea Market Stand
Or, try operating your own flea market stand if you have a lot of stuff that may take several weeks to sell.
Opening a stand usually doesn’t cost much, especially if you look for a small space.
Return Things You Don’t Want
If you have unused, unopened items that weren’t purchased years ago, you still may be able to return them.
Some stores, like Walmart and Target, have helpful return policies that give you ample time to return things that haven’t been used.
Make Money with Hobbies
Possibly the most fun way to make extra money is by doing it with stuff you already find fun and interesting, like your favorite hobbies!
Make and Sell Crafts
Sell crafts – anything from flower arrangements to handmade blankets – at flea markets, yard sales, or online.
You might even be able to ask local shops if they’re willing to buy some of your products to sell in-store!
Flip Furniture
Turn old pieces into new furniture and then flip them to make money off your investment.
Consignment shops are the perfect place to sell them, but you could even start a small shop in your home.
Book Photography Appointments
Love photography?
Start venturing into setting up appointments with people you know. Word of mouth spreads fast, and you may start getting regular photo sessions booked.
Sell Stock Photos
You can also have a little more flexibility with your photo sales by selling the ones you already have on stock photo sites.
These sites pay photographers commission for the photos they sell individually or as part of a subscription:
Make Money Losing Weight
Have you heard of HealthyWage, the app that pays you to lose weight?
It’s legit. You can join challenges to try to be the biggest loser in the bunch.
DietBet is similar, and even lets you challenge yourself in a bet.
Other options are Achievement and Runkeeper.
Or Help Others Lose Weight
Maybe you’re already in great shape and want to help others reach their goals. Great!
Check out the nearby gyms and see if they’re willing to let you start a fitness class each week for some extra cash.
